Located on Costa Rica’s central Pacific coast, Manuel Antonio National Park is renowned for its unique landscapes and biodiversity. The park features Punta Catedral, a natural extension that was once an independent island. Thanks to tectonic activity, a land bridge now connects it to the mainland, allowing visitors to explore this fascinating area.
Punta Catedral’s trail offers a chance to hike through a protected area rich in tropical rainforest flora and fauna. Visitors can spot various mammals, including three species of monkeys, two and three-toed sloths, snakes, lizards, and numerous bird species.
At 300 feet above sea level, the summit provides stunning photo opportunities. As you descend, a refreshing breeze rewards those who venture beyond Manuel Antonio’s famous beaches.
Note: The trail is not recommended for those with asthma or difficulty with steps. The area is humid, so bring water to stay hydrated during your adventure.
