DISCOVER COSTA RICA

Day 1 – Arrive in San Jose, Costa Rica

Your tour starts in San Jose by being picked up at the airport by our Costa Rican English-speaking representative, transferred to your hotel, and provided general information to prepare you for the tour and your early departure to the Caribbean the following day.

Meals are not included today.

Day 2 – San Jose to Tortuguero

Begin your adventure with an early ride to the Caribbean side of Costa Rica. You will have the chance to drive across the city of San Jose and experience the busy lifestyle of this very populated area. Upon leaving the town, the landscape will become a combination of active volcanoes and coffee plantations located in the central mountain range. The scenery will transform into a beautiful and unsuspected area of pristine forest, the Braulio Carrillo National Park, considered a tropical forest in the backyard of San Jose. As the journey continues, you will begin to see bananas, pineapple, and ornamental plantations that represent an essential part of the Costa Rican economy.

At the dock of La Pavona, a boat awaits to transport you to Tortuguero. The boat trip will take you through a combination of lagoons and rivers. The scenery and wildlife will give you a reason to use your cameras regularly until you reach the remote location of Tortuguero.

Day 3 – Tortuguero National Park

Explore the beauty of the Tortuguero National Park by boat through the wetlands in the middle of the rainforest. First, keep an eye out for monkeys, iguanas, and caimans, which are plentiful in this country. Then, experience a breathtaking natural wetland established around the lodge’s location. Of course, the first thing you have to expect in this area will be rain, considering that you will be in the rain forest—also, excellent chances to learn about tropical flora and fauna.

If you have additional free time, there is an excellent opportunity to visit the nearby village to learn about the sea turtles program and the sustainable project incentivized by the local, sustainable projects.

Day 4 – Tortuguero National Park, Arenal Volcano Region

Catch the boat again and travel back to the ground transportation to begin a visit to one of the country’s most famous regions – Arenal Volcano. This area is very prosperous due to the active pyroclastic mountain and its effect on the richness of the volcanic soil. You will pass by many small villages along the way, demonstrating the constant movement of an active society and various cultural groups. After getting settled into your hotel, relax at the base of the Arenal Volcano while you enjoy the warmth of the natural hot springs.

Day 5 – Zip-lining, Arenal Volcano National Park

In the morning, get ready for the ziplining excursion, one of the most exciting experiences Costa Rica offers. During this activity, you will explore the treetops and enjoy the rainforest from a different perspective; the canopy ride has become an exciting way of getting to know that specific area of the forest that was limited to scientists for a long time. Swinging through the woods through platforms and transversals is part of what many visitors consider the most memorable times in Costa Rica. If your touristic preferences do not lean toward the adventurous side, you could opt to spend the morning strolling through the shops and immersing yourself in the culture of the nearby village.

After lunch, your tour guide will take you to a beautiful trail just by the volcano in the Arenal Volcano National Park. Here you will have the chance to learn about the different volcanic aspects of the country. Then, enjoy the active giant from its base as you hike to the lava rock that occurred during the 1992 eruption.

Day 6 – White Water Rafting, Visit La Fortuna

In the morning, get ready for a wet and wild adventure as you paddle through the rapids of a rainforest river, and then play around in tranquil river pools in an isolated rainforest river canyon.

After lunch, take the time to walk around the town of Fortuna. Explore the souvenir shops, mingle with the locals, and experience the countryside town’s dynamic with a touristy twist.

Day 7 – ATV Adventure, Transfer to Northern Pacific Coast

In the morning, ride an ATV around the lowlands at the volcano’s base. After the ATV excursion, say goodbye to the volcano as you depart for the Pacific Coast. Guanacaste, the province where you will spend the last days of your adventure, is considered to have gorgeous beaches of this latitude. The windy ride will convert into a very flat, straight road where cattle farming will be the primary activity of the area. Notice that the topography of this country will show many changes in a short distance, making your journey an unforgettable experience.

During the afternoon, say goodbye to your guide and driver, check into your resort, and relax on the Pacific Coast. First, keep an eye out for wildlife around the hotel area. Then, take your camera and go for an evening stroll or merely enjoy the view of the Papagayo Gulf. The same scenery has inspired many famous Hollywood actors to choose this area as a relaxing private paradise.

Day 8 – Northern Pacific Coast

Select from a wide variety of activities according to your preference. For example, you could hang out by the pool, watch birds, arrange a daily sightseeing tour, or even go deep-sea fishing. You can organize any activities in advance at the resort’s front desk. Whatever activities you choose, you’ll find that the area of Guanacaste has a lot to offer. (Please note: any excursion you book through the front desk will not be part of the price of this tour package).

Day 9 – Depart from Liberia, Costa Rica

It’s time to say goodbye to beautiful Costa Rica!  Our representative will transport you to the Liberia International Airport, located approximately 40 minutes from your resort, where you will await your flight back home.
